Thinking outside the (mail)box

Recently, I noticed that our slightly wobbly mailbox has become even more wobbly. In our neighborhood everyone has curbside mailboxes, and our wooden post has been looking pretty ragged. Knowing we might need to replace it somewhat soon, I’ve been on the lookout for various types of mailboxes to see what’s out there and what we might like since I’ve never had to purchase one before.

The other day, as I was pulling out of the driveway, I realized that our wooden post had given way, and our mailbox was lying in the street. Apparently, replacing the old one needs to happen much sooner than originally expected. Luckily, my ever so handy hubby was able to work some magic and put our post back together…for now.

There are some really nice mailbox designs out there if you are willing to fork over some major cash. We won’t be doing that, but I can still look, can’t I? Here our some of my favorites:

Here’s a teak mailbox from Semigood Design. You can get this baby for a measly $1,800.

Here’s another teak option that is almost just as pricey ($1,664) from Unica Home.

I love this modern design by Hector Perez that I found at Apartment Therapy. This one is much more affordable at $199.

I stumbled upon this simple yet sleek design at Real Simple. It’s even more affordable at $167.50.

Last, but not least, is the Bobi Classic I found here for $259.
